Since 1992, Silotank has been servicing the water industry with its vast range of products in industrial water tanks, and have always been recognised for its commitment to continuous improvement and stringent quality standards. We at SILOTANK endeavour for best whether it is the skills of our people, raw material used, manufacture process adopted or the quality of the end product and follow a no compromise policy in all of our business activities.

Although SILOTANK had a long track record of manufacture of water tanks and towers with WRAS approved materials, we at Silotank always believed that WRAS approval for the raw material is not enough for a critical public health product like potable water.

The introduction of the new Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulation further strengthened this belief and highlighted the fact that the whole process of tank manufacturing, workmanship, consumables and the finished product needs to be approved, which the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) does through it tests regime. Drinking water Inspectorate regulates public water supplies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. DWI is responsible for assessing the quality of drinking water in England and Wales, taking enforcement steps if standards are not being met, and appropriate action when water is unfit for human consumption.

DWI also approves the processes and products to be used in the processing of raw water. It has set tough test regimes for approval and every process/ product submitted for an approval has to undergo a long process of tests, improvements and modifications.

Following the company ethos of quality and service, Silotank approached their material partners for development of special formulation of thermoplastic sheets, welding rods, connections and pipes used in the manufacture of tanks. Working in conjunction with our partners and quality auditors we also re-designed our in-house manufacture process to ensure the required quality standards.

After months of research and development we submitted our Leinster and Connaught range of industrial water tanks and towers for testing and approval in accordance to Regulation 31 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2001 in Wales, Regulation 27 of the Water Supply (Water Quality)(Scotland) Regulations 2001, and Regulation 30 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007.

To meet the standards, our tanks over a period of two (2) years under went a series of tests including but not limited to BS 6920 testing, Analysis of leachates from the product for determinants specified by the Committee on Product and Processes (CPP), total organic carbon (TOC), any toxicological studies requested by the CPP and number of other tests.

These products have received full product approval by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and Regions to the requirements of Regulation 31 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 1989 under the Drinking Water Inspectorate.
